Sunnyvale, CA (December 2, 2013) – Lumenous Device Technologies, a contract manufacturer and design consultancy for minimally-invasive device technology, introduces a unique method to improve and enable new devices using locally differential heat-treatment of nitinol.
There are a variety of ways methods to heat-treat nitinol using air or vacuum furnaces, salt baths, and fluidized sand beds. Lumenous has developed an innovative technology that allows nitinol components “to receive a ‘targeted’ heat-treatment wherein different zones on a single component are treated differently,” according to Todd Dickson, President of Lumenous. “Lumenous has developed methods to push materials to points previously unknown, treat different areas of the device uniquely, and accomplish all this in a verifiable, repeatable, and scalable manner.” The locally differential heat treatment technology enables engineers to reduce the total part count in assemblies and eliminate joining processes – all of which can lead to higher reliability, better performance, and lower cost.
Lumenous continues to pioneer ultraprecision medical components, producing a wide variety of minimally invasive medical devices including vascular, general surgery, ophthalmology, and orthopedic products.
Our company’s expertise supports all phases of product development with ISO13485 certified laser micromachining, microwelding, electropolishing, nitinol wire drawing, precision assembly and design engineering for stents, heart valve frames, flexible hypotubes etc.
Lumenous’ relentless pursuit of high quality workmanship, and rigorous standards have made the company a world-class partner. Lumenous — We do Brilliant
