Manufactures a scanning acoustic microscope for nondestructive inspection of medical device and pharmaceutical packaging seals. The technology uses high-frequency ultrasound to image such material defects as voids, delaminations, channel opens, and variations in seal width. It can be applied to a variety of materials and package types, including single- and multilaminate foil and polymer films and formed or molded plastic cassettes and devices. Acoustic microimaging can verify process control to help support product validation in production environments attentive to ISO 9000 and FDA requirements.
