IRP Medical announces the hiring of Rey Obnamia as the Vice President of Technology and Regulatory.

IRP Medical is pleased to announce the hiring of Rey Obnamia as the Vice President of Technology and Regulatory.  Mr. Obnamia brings 33 years of medical engineering contract manufacturing experience in the plastic, silicone, rubber and extrusion processes, with an emphasis of responsibility in quality and regulatory oversight. In addition to his position at Hi-Tech Rubber as Director of Technology; Rey’s most recent role was Director of Quality for the Vesta Thermoplastic Extrusion Division.

Rod Trujillo, CEO & Founder of IRP, comments “Rey’s technical background, years of experience and knowledge of the ever changing quality and regulatory medical device environment, will be an enhanced benefit to our organization and most importantly our customers.  Rey will be instrumental in overseeing and completing IRP Medical’s ISO:13485 certification in 2014.” 

Mr. Obnamia joins several other ex-Hi-Tech Rubber team members who assisted in the development and relocation of a 40,000 square foot, state-of-the-art medical device facility in San Clemente, Ca in April of 2013. Those other team members are ; Phil Benker - Engineering Manager; Danny Gomez - Operations Manager and Trey Atkins - Executive Vice President.

Mr. Benker brings 36 years of rubber, silicone & thermoplastic molding, processing and engineering experience to the team.  He worked at Hi-Tech Rubber for 25 years and was instrumental in the engineering development of liquid silicone molding processes and establishing validation molding parameters to the medical device industry.  

Mr. Gomez brings 36 years of rubber and silicone molding and manufacturing plant management experience to the team.  He worked briefly at Santa Fe Rubber and the past 25 years at Hi-Tech Rubber. 

Trey Atkins brings 23 years of professional contract manufacturing experience to the team.  He has held many engineering, operations and sales roles in the thermoplastic injection molding, metal stamping, thermoplastic & silicone extrusion, liquid silicone molding and medical device assembly fields.  He recently worked as VP of Sales at Vesta, VP of Operations at Innovative Surgical Products and VP of Sales & Marketing for Hi-Tech Group Companies.
