Testing Laboratory Named Best of State and CEO Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist

SALT LAKE CITY, June 3, 2010— Building upon recent success and recognition, Nelson Laboratories (www.nelsonlabs.com) continues to have a huge year with the microbiology testing laboratory being named Utah’s Best of State medal winner in the Science & Tech: Analytical Laboratory category and CEO Jeffery Nelson being named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist.

2010 has been an exciting year for Nelson Labs with the opening of its new 50,000 sq. ft. building expansion in January and other recognitions. The Utah Technology Council also recently honored Jeff Nelson as UTC CEO of the Year and the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development recently named Nelson Labs its first ever recipient of the Economic Legacy Award.

The Best of State Awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. They hope they can motivate companies to reach new heights by recognizing excellence in the community and sharing examples of triumph. The medals were presented at the 2010 Best of State Awards Gala on May 29, 2010.

The Ernst & Young awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Jeff Nelson was selected as a finalist from nearly 100 nominations by a panel of independent judges. Award winners were announced Wednesday evening.
