In one of the study’s Key Findings, Gartner states: “Manufacturers aren't paying enough attention to system engineering, product requirements management and quality monitoring as software increasingly becomes part of manufactured products.”
“We are honored to be named one of Gartner’s ‘Cool Vendors,’” said Michael Harris, president and general manager, Integrity business unit at PTC (formerly MKS president and CEO). “We believe Gartner’s analysis affirms our strategic direction and industry focus. Our customers are consistently seeing the benefits of this approach, including improved release predictability, more rapid innovation, reduced overhead in compliance to standards and regulations, and higher product and process quality."
About Gartner’s Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
