July 18, 2012 – Mequon, WI. – Today Granite MEDSystems announced a joint venture with Bjorksten | bit 7 (Madison, WI). The working agreement will give clients accelerated product development and lower cost programs by unifying both organizations’ service capabilities into a single streamlined program. The new alliance combines Granite MEDSystems’ decades of experience as a medical OEM with Bjorksten | bit 7’s ability to design, engineer, and prototype award winning medical products.
“Bjorksten | bit 7 is a perfect alliance for us,” said Clint Hanson, Granite MEDSystems’ Vice President of Engineering and Operations. “Our clients will benefit greatly from gaining access to world-class product design and engineering. We’re confident the clients will see their product development accelerated with decreased cost and improvement in efficiency and quality.”
The alliance between Granite MEDSystems and Bjorksten | bit 7 enables both companies to offer clients true end-to-end medical device design and manufacturing, from concept to production, all under the umbrella of 13485 oversight. This range of service is uncommon in the industry.
“We were intrigued by Granite MEDSystems’ manufacturing capabilities,” said Jim Frater, Bjorksten | bit 7 President. “It was an area that we wanted to be able to offer to our medical device clients, but the investment toward developing our own manufacturing facility and resources was a challenge. Granite MEDSystems is a perfect match for us toward joint-venture product development because they are extremely experienced with manufacturing medical devices that receive intense regulatory scrutiny from the FDA and other quality assurance systems, such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and Quality System Regulation 21 CFR 820.”
