GW Plastics, Inc. announced today, at the MD&M West show, its formation of a formal product development group. This branded element, GW/PD, is part of a suite of custom services offered by GW Plastics to help fulfill their “From Concept to Market” range of capabilities. GW Plastics is a single source global provider of precision injection molding and related contract manufacturing activities for its Fortune 1000 customer base.
GW Plastics has always supported early stage product development assistance to their customers. Due to growing demands for such services, GW Plastics has decided to formalize the approach with a dedicated product development group, currently located out of the Vermont based Corporate Headquarters. A new design center location is under development.
Larry Bell, VP Business Development and Marketing says, “GW Plastics recognizes that many OEM’s have limited resources and budget constraints for developing new products. Additionally, some have limited plastics injection molding & tooling experience. This is where GW/PD can fill the gap. GW has always excelled at Design for Manufacturability (DFM) support. We are a strong believer that early supplier involvement is critical to successful new product introductions. Our goal is to reduce customer product costs and time-to-market with this initiative.”
Jeff Kane joined GW Plastics in December 2009 to lead the GW/PD group. He has over nineteen years of experience in developing, patenting and commercializing new product platforms for the global life sciences and medical device markets. Jeff states, “Being able to offer fully integrated product development services will help our customers stimulate innovation, lower their development costs, accelerate time to market and improve overall quality. By turning to a full service provider such as GW Plastics, customers can focus on their core competencies and know that they have the support they need up front. GW/PD will offer increased capabilities with focus on industrial and concept design, product development and DFM, FDA compliant design controls, and design verification and validation.”
